Over the weekend I had the chance to go see the play The Miracle Worker. This play was just an amazing thing to go and watch about the life of Helen Keller. It all started with how she became deaf and blind and then expanded on how she started to learn language and how to communicate with others given her disabilities.
This play was just overall amazing and put on very nicely. It was about two hours long and just explained the earlier years of Helen Kellers life. I did not know too much about her life and what cause her disabilities and everything, but this play really told her life.
Throughout the play, I experienced many different emotions. I felt very sad for Mr. and Mrs. Keller when they found out that at just nineteen months, Helen was diagnosed with acute congestion. That would be very hard to go through, especially for Mrs. Keller because Helen was her first child. They had tried everything that they could to try to help Helen, but eventually they just started to give into her tantrums and fits just to make her life as good as she could have it. I then felt happy for the family when they found Annie and decided to have her come to their house and give it a try because how much worse can it get right? There were also moments when I laughed because of Helen's tantrums. I found it very funny when Helen would just go around the dinner table eating other people's food instead of her own and Annie did not like that too much. Annie then started to wrestle with Helen and throw her around a little just to try to teach her what was right and wrong. There was also a moment during this scene that Annie threw water in Helen's face to calm her down and I had never seen that coming so I thought it was very funny.
Overall I thought this play was amazing and I was so glad I could go and experience it. I would definitely recommend this play to everyone because it gives us all a different view on how Helen's life actually was when she was young. The play also brings out many different emotions that you wouldn't expect to have during such a sad story.

I also thought the play was well performed and they had a great cast. I think they did well in playing with the audience's emotions and making us feel as if we were there ourselves. I also thought there were many humorous remarks, which I think helped ease the tension on the stage.
